Guadeloupe in the Caribbean!
Guadeloupe is a Caribbean paradise! It was
originally named Karukera
, "Island of beautiful
waters", by the Caraïbe Indians it lives
up to its name! Now part of the French West Indies
(yes we speak French and have the Euro) Guadeloupe
is renown for its sun, laid back island French
culture, stunning beaches, and of course it superb
surf!
Our school is based in
Sainte-Anne, and our surf lodge just 12 miles away
in Saint Francois. There is surf both in
Sainte-Anne and Saint Francois - and by being able
to stay at either location you get to experience two
parts of our beautiful island.
Sainte - Anne is a small seaside district of some
20 000 inhabitants on the southern coast of
Guadeloupe (Grande-Terre). Sainte - Anne has always
been known for its magnificent beaches; but in
addition to the dazzling beauty of its coastal
areas, there lies a fascinating and rich inland
heritage awaiting your discovery: the cottage
industries craftsmen, the former windmills of
by-gone times, the quaint country atmosphere, the
fabulous vegetation in the "Grands-Fonds" area, the
land-based activities, and much more.
Saint Francois is a
smaller village with a great variety of
architecture and a interesting diversity of
traditional and tourist activities. Life revolves
around around the old market, with its traditional
artisans and tradesmen, and fishermen returning to
sell their catch each day. And of course
as well as the superb breaks to surf on, their is
protected beaches to laze on such as "baie
Olive", "anse à la Barque", "anse à la Gourde", "plage
des Salines",
Both locations have a excellent range of other
activities to treat yourself to. There is jungle
hikes, sea kayaking, sailing to deserted islands,
scuba diving, parachuting, sea kayaking, wind
surfing, kite surfing, Creole cooking, Creole dance
and music and more...
Guadeloupe - once you
have come, you have found paradise on earth.
