Guadeloupe Surfing

Guadeloupe  consists of two island joined by a bridge and is part of the French West Indies, Caribbean. The climate is warm and tropical all year round. The main wind direction  is E-NE all the year. The main surf season is from October to the end of May. This is the best surf conditions, the biggest surf, the dry season,  and of course while it may be winter in North America and Europe - its defiantly not in Guadeloupe!  However, You can surf all the year round with the west island, Basse Terre still breaking during the cyclone season with S-SE swells and The east island, Grande Terre, receiving  the more reliable and consistent Atlantic swells.  During the season waves average of 4 to 6', up to about 10'.  There is over 35 designated surf spots on Guadeloupe meaning that there is surfing for everyone! Yet - there are still lots of secret spots ...

Our school is based in main town of  Sainte Anne, where there is two surf break (La digue and  La Caravelle) We also work with the surf club that has an excellent surf camp about 20 km (12 miles) away at St.François. You can be based either at Sainte Anne or at the surf club at St.François. We normally recommend that if you are a beginner and want a variety of activities as well as surfing you base yourself in Sainte Anne. If you want to surf til you drop then the surf camp in St.François  is for you! We also recommend you spend some of your weekend at Port Louis, about 20 km from Sainte Anne - that is another world class break.
